"Checking-in" to MSNBC

By Ryan Osborn, Director of Social Media

Our team has been experimenting with several ideas around "social TV."

One particular initiative has been to work with partners such as Tunerfish, GoMiso, and GetGlue that offer rewards to viewers who "check-in" to TV shows.

As much as I'm excited to always share new ideas and partnerships, I also hope to start sharing metrics.

Below is data from the GetGlue MSNBC badges that you might find interesting:

  • To date, there have been about 109,397 check-ins.
  • About 500 check-ins per week per show.
  • 14,165 stickers have been awarded to users.
  • GetGlue check-ins are shared more on Twitter than on Facebook.
  • The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell has had the highest number of stickers awarded. Maddow has the most check-ins of all shows.

It's an interesting benchmark and our team looks forward to learning more.

Have you ever "checked-in" to a TV show? What do you like about the experience? What do you not like?
